Sumer Solstice/Midsummer.

So the Solstice has past and Midsummer is here! Also, Glastonbury festival is up coming (Not that I can afford to go. :( )
So now is the time to get the shorts and sun cream out, the BBQ's in the evening's with family and friends. Enjoy the sun whilst it lasts here in Wales, as rare as it is.
I spent the Solstice over the woods with my other half, constructed an altar and built a fire. But considering we got lost on the way up, we didn't want to get lost on the way down! We left around about 10(10:30)

Sitchins Theory.

Ok,ok, You may all have to take this with a pinch of sault. For one there is quite a few errors in this persons explanation of 'Sumer' I.e. 'Hell-Abyss- Abyssu' Sumerian for ''Watery deep'' (Hell, if you don't already know this derives from the Goddess Hel. Norse Goddess I believe she was.)
I'm not what for speculation, or UFO's, but the symbols maybe familiar, the explanation is quite interesting too. But i'm always a cynical to UFO's, but hey! Each to their own! Enjoy!

Around 6,000 years ago, the Sumerian civilization sprang up in the region of Mesopotamia, between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers in what is now southern Iraq. The Sumerians developed a highly advanced culture, much of which we still use today. They developed the first advances in writing, mathematics, science, medicine, and perhaps most importantly, astronomy.

One of the more enduring Sumerian achievements is the Epic of Gilgamesh, the oldest known written story. It is about a hero named Gilgamesh, who is two-thirds god and one-third man. Also within the story is an account of a great flood, one that may have predated the Bible's. The flood was sent by the Anunnaki, which means "Those who from Heaven to Earth came." The Anunnaki were the offspring of Anu, the Mesopotamians' equivalent of Zeus, and they were the seven judges of Hell.

Sumerian culture: signed, Akkadian cylinder sealed and delivered. "The weird thing about this Akkadian cylinder seal (one of many that archaeologists have found) is that we have no idea how the Sumerians made the thing, or any of the others for that matter." (Photo: www.garone.net)

Now the whole controversy over the Sumerians concerns the work of an archaeologist named Zecharia Sitchin, who has written many books about the Anunnaki -- The 12th Planet, The Wars Of Gods and Men, etc. According to Sitchin, the Anunnaki came from the Heavens and created Man in their likeness, much like the Biblical God made Adam. They came from a planet called Nibiru, whse orbit around the Sun every 3600 years brought it into close proximity with the Earth. They came to Earth around 450,000 years ago to mine gold to help protect their own planet -- why a civilization that can travel through space would need gold is not explained, but hey, that's why they call it conspiracy theory, people -- but, being exhausted from their battles to save their planet and the long trip to ours, they needed help in the mines. So they sought out the hominids that roamed around our planet (cro-magnons, neanderthals, et al.) and pushed evolution quickly forward by inserting part of their own genetic material to create a hybrid species to do their bidding.

Sitchin claims some of his evidence comes from an Akkadian cylinder seal (#VA/243), which shows an apparent depiction of our solar system, albeit with 11 planets rather than the nine we know (the Sumerians apparently counted the Moon as a planet). So, the remaining planet, Sitchin surmised after much research through Mesopotamian writings, was Nibiru. The weird thing about this Akkadian cylinder seal (one of many that archaeologists have found) is that we have no idea how the Sumerians made the thing, or any of the others for that matter.

Yet more evidence supporting Sitchin comes from a very interesting Sumerian drawing. On a page simply called "Adam" found on Sitchin's site, there's a picture of two dragons holding two swords while between them, two serpents are coiled around a rod. This picture was the Sumerian symbol for medicine and healing, the caduceus that is still used to signify our own medical communities. Notice that the caduceus also resembles the double-helix structure of DNA. Things that make you go "Hmm," indeed.

[ I wont post the rest, goes all into UFO's and Nassa, but I just found those bits quite interesting, albeit sceptical! ;P]

Inanna Riddle

A riddle I made up for a friend. It's based on the Goddess Inanna, but I thought it so good (for me even!) I would post it here and on facebook notes. Do enjoy!

Maybe obvious to the people whom are in to what I am, but the Riddle was dedicated to a friend, but I liked it SO much I will let everyone have a crack at it!

Amongest the stars do I lay,
and to my kin do I pay.
Of constellations reside so high,
and with my wings do I fly.
Of foot and lion and womens deeds,
of pain and war are similar deeds.
Adorn thy headdress and within thy stride,
the hidden amulette in which I hide-
But within such faith you will find.
Of beauty, love,honour,delight,
Like a raging bull do I fight.
Children of Sumer I watch over thee,
guide thy path thus to see-
That amongest the starts do I lay,
of one such star remains by day

Who am I?

The old and new English use of language is a clue also.

Places of Peace and Serenity.

I have a few places I like to go and wander when times feel tough, and my mind is unclear, one place is the cemetary not too far from me (Stereo-typical?)
Not because it's a place of death, but because it's a place of life also... Life grows all around, it's silent and it's a nice place to just lose yourself. A nice place to -see- death, if death could be seen.
Ok, I may seem like the stereo-typical witch now eh? But in truth, I'm a curious lass, I like to read tomb stones, I keep to myself, cause no trouble and just like to enjoy nature in it's entirety. Life AND death. And anything between.

Magical Feelings.

The past couple of days have been reasonably strange for me! I've been experiencing new sensations. At first they were minor, as though in my imagination, but as the days past my perseption of things began to change, how I seen people began to change, seen the things about me.
It's a strange feeling to put in to words, maybe it's just apart of growing up, but it's such a magical feeling, unexplainable really in text....
Try imagining yourself, at one with the air...A feeling of floating or in a dream. That's what the past few days have been like, as though I am within a dream, yet awake. Seeing things through anothers eyes. . .
Hrm.. Maybe it's the inner 'Witch' within me, coming to terms with all of what and who I am; The good, the bad and the ugly.

On a more knowledgeable note my books arrived! Four Encyclopedia's on the following; Witch craft, Spells, Mythical creatures, and psychic(s). Add to my on going collection of books! I have four more to buy yet.

It's going to be hard fitting it all in with the studying I already do; Sumer and Akkad, Meditations now the newest book on Witchcraft (Which, if I may add, is a great book! Not jus for the obvious, but historal refrence(s) ). Organised it to Saturday Meditations, Sunday's Sumer and Akkad(As normal and to keep my knowledge up to-date) and the weekdays to natural craft.
Probably in the evening's, as i'm normally out during the day.

*Key is to organise before you do!*

Meditations.

After doing my regular meditations on Saturday and Sunday, I went on to my studies, and decided to update my meditations, feeling I was ready to advance in that sense. Thus I was reading in to Colour meditations. I had tried some out before hand, to get the 'feel' of such things, but i've decided to do some more 'in depth' research and practise on certain colours.
For now i'm going with Blue and Gold(ish-white).
Blue consisting of the following: Wisdom, knowledge, understanding, contentment etc.
Gold(ish-white); Power, wealth, business, strength, healing etc.
I'll note about that when i further progress in the meditation(s).
